Gujarat High Court denies poker legal status
The Goujarat High Court has rejected a petition by local poker clubs to claim poker a game of skill and protect poker players from police. This was a real shock for the whole rapidly growing poker industry.
Justice Rajesh H. Shukla dismissed this petition in an order after three months of hearings in Ahmedabad. This decision disappointed players and interested people from this state, which is ninth-largest state in the country. The justice has now to release the reasons of making such decision.
Gujarat was one of the few states where there was no decision about legality of poker, while most states in India have confirmed poker as a game of skill.
