“Diwali Rush”: The First Online Tournament Series from PokerStars India
After 6 months from the launch in the country, PokerStars shedules its first online tournament that goes in the same dates as biggest Hindu festival.
The festival starts on October 28 and will last 8 days. The guarantee wil be 1.5 Crore ($200,000). The winner of the freeroll will get Platinum Pass of 21 LAC ($30,000) and Main Event guarantee will be 30 LAC ($40,800).
Diwali Rush will include 34 events with the Main Event on November 4. Buy-ins will be from $10 to $160. Also, during the whole festival series of satellites and freerolls will be held.
PokerStars lucky choice
Diwali Rush will become the first chance for PokerStars to make a big move on Indian market. The choice of the dates is also beneficial: Diwali festival is connected to lick in gaming.
Nevertheless, PokerStars will face a strong competition from other operators, as this period is suitable for taking advantage of for all poker rooms. Last year Khelo365 saw 30% increase in traffic during the festival.
In attempt to become popular
Although the industry of online poker grows dramatically, PokerStars is not as successful as its local competitors, and the brand image is not wuite established. That’s why poker room faces a need to impress its Indian players and this Diwali festival is the right choice.
