Muskan Sethi from Delhi becomes India’s first female professional poker player
In 2017 Muskan turned 27 years old, but she has already come in history. This nice girl got a difficult task — to change the image of poker in India.
Previously poker was perceived in our country as exclusively male game, but now Muskan Sethi fights on equal with more experienced players.
Sethi got acquainted with poker due to TV shows. Muskan admits that she saw poker shows in her childhood, but she didn’t like it. In her childhood she was dreaming of tennis player career, but not of taking up titles at poker tables.
When she was 20, she got acquainted with the game closer due to Facebook app Zynga Poker. Having forgotten about her childhood opinion, Muskan noticed that she is not only able to win, but that she also likes the game process.
Muskan didn’t set easy goals. Every time she sit at poker table, she insistently played until beating her opponent. Developing her skills, Sethi decided to start online tournaments.
She chose the largest room in the world — PokerStars. Sethi confidently played poker tournaments and managed to achieve success. In the battle with 700,000 players she could become one of the 4 satellite winners (tournaments, in which winners get tickets on more expensive tourney). Poker room paid for her trip in Barcelona to the international poker tournament.
Muskan is sure that there are no professions in which women can’t achieve success. Her own experience is the evidence of it. In online poker, dominated, certainly, by men, young woman from Delhi has managed to achieve success.
Sethi is a sign of changes, which occur in the whole traditional indian society. In her eyes can be seen the future of our country and success of indian people on the international arena
To date, Muskan hasn’t won big tournaments yet, but she has already become the participant of the most significant poker series, such as World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour and European poker Tour. She has played in Las-Vegas, Barcelona and Prague.
Besides poker, Muskan actively participates in charitable programs and is the creator of Doggydoo app, which unites dog-fanciers.
The correctness of the chosen path of Muskan Sethi was confirmed by President Ram Nath Kovind, who awarded Muskan together with 99 other women.
To date, Muskan Sethi has won about $114,597 in online poker tournaments and $44,310 in live tournaments.
