PokerStars will be the first licensed room in India
Two weeks ago PokerStars told us about plan to start operating in Indian market. Today we already know the exact launch date of PokerStars.IN. The license obliges the room to work in reservation conditions.
Perhaps, the most unbridled online poker market will have the first large licensed online poker operator. On 17th of April PokerStars will launch a room with the game on rupees. All new players will be greeted by freeroll with prize fund of $15,000.
The parent company of PokerStars, The Stars Group, has confirmed rumors about its research on the Indian market and negotiations with local operators. It has managed to enter the market by making a partnership with Sugal & Damani Group, an organization that provides state lotteries in India. TSG will use licenses of Sugal & Damani to launch poker room.
Earlier, on the official website of Indian PokerStars players could see «Coming soon», now the site has the exact date of launch: 17th of April. All poker lovers India, that now play in main dot-com room, will be obliged to create new account in PokerStars.IN and play in reservation conditions. Talking about the service, all usual poker formats and mobile app will be available for Indian players.
